Senior ILS \ Sustainment Engineer

This position is part of the Rotary and Mission Systems business area, where employees across Canada support engineering, systems integration, training, sustainment and in-service support programs for Canadian and international military customers across land, air and sea.

Specific Job Description The Sustainment Engineering Staff role is an operational and strategic role responsible for supporting the leading and oversight of the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analysis for a multitude of programs and proposals. This includes supporting the technical team while working alongside key stakeholders and subcontractors to ensure that delivered Supportability solutions meet the high standards and specific needs of each Customer. This position will report technically to the relevant Supportability Integrated Product Team (IPT) Leads, and functionally to the ILS First Line Manager (FLM).

The ideal candidate will be a senior experienced individual contributor, with the required skills to make them a technical leader and asset for multiple projects and customers. Possessing a broad understanding of ILS and the ability to deliver cost effectiveness to the programs, both in design and build phases, as well as transition to long term sustainment and in-service support, is a key asset to this the success of this role.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field or equivalent experience/combined education with 10+ years of professional experience; or 8+ years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree;

4+ year technical lead experience on major programs

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Familiarity with LSAR, RMA and LSA software tools

Strong written and oral communication skills

Team oriented with collaborative approach

Ability to obtain Government of Canada NATO SECRET Security Clearance in a timely manner.

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

Familiarity with ship platforms such as the Halifax Class Frigate or similar

Familiarity with maritime Combat Systems, including Radars, Combat Management Systems (CMS), Communications, Weapons, Navigation, Electronic Warfare (EW)

Familiarity with Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS), JIRA, Windchill, Confluence and Microsoft Office

Agile Scrum Master and Product Owner experience

Detailed understanding of emerging technology, standards and software for logistics product and service solutions

Familiarity with 1LMX digital transformation and related supportability/sustainment tools

Understanding of the Military Standard (MIL-STD), Global Emissions Initiative (GEIA) and S-Series of ILS Specifications

Strong project management skills to oversee the entire lifecycle of the River Class Destroyer (RCD)

Collaborative spirit to work effectively with and across other Integrated IPTs and stakeholders

Innovative thinking to bring new ideas and improvements to the program

Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset

Adaptability to respond to changing requirements and integrate new technologies.
